【TVBS NEWS】Taiwanese company unveils AI-powered functional medicine lab
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — REDOX Health Group (瀚仕國際健康集團), a Taiwanese functional medicine company, launched its "Asian Functional Medicine Flagship Base" in 2025, shifting healthcare focus from treatment to prevention and "graceful aging." The group positions itself at the forefront of this healthcare shift by leveraging extensive data and international collaborations with laboratories in the United States and Germany.
Dr. Han Wen Ou (歐瀚文), CEO of the group, said Taiwan's aging society forms part of a global "aging tsunami." He stressed that prolonging lives and delaying age-related disabilities remains extremely important. The company's functional medicine approach identifies and prevents problems as elderly patients' functional abilities begin to decline, enabling a healthier aging process, he added.
The group developed a pioneering functional medicine metabolomic test, offering what REDOX Health Group calls the first personalized professional report in Asia. Future integration of an AI interpretation system will boost clinical diagnosis efficiency. Common test areas include energy metabolism and hormonal balance, providing a more tailored approach to healthcare, according to the company.
Harry Jao (饒倉維), Vice President of the REDOX FxMed Laboratory, said the company introduced many technologies for longevity and functional medicine testing into Taiwan. These include bio-age testing and gut microbiota testing. All doctors undergo professional training, enabling them to translate these tests into practical functional medicine treatments, he added.
Dr. Ou said the group collaborates with laboratories in the U.S. and Germany and nearly 300 medical institutions to create Taiwan's most complete integrated clinical experience. The group plans to expand across the Asian market and eventually extend beyond the region. The company aims to establish a "functional medicine hospital" covering obstetrics and gynecology, endocrinology, and other treatment areas, he added.
The group brings 30 years of accumulated research and clinical expertise as it undergoes a generational transition. AI integration and cutting-edge testing methodologies could redefine how healthcare providers approach aging and wellness. These approaches grow increasingly relevant as Taiwan faces an aging population requiring new strategies to promote good health among growing numbers of elderly residents.
